“The creative process for this song was a fun and meaningful one. The first session started back in July 2024 and it rightfully served as the introduction to recording my original work as ‘sourgirl’. My father, Jaben Pennell, a mix engineer, helped bring this song to life and transformed my vision into a dreamy, melodic experience. I wanted this single to kind of sound and feel like a distant melody getting caught in the wind on a cold winter’s night. While listening, you’ll hear some echoey vocal and instrumental parts that show this song’s vintage music-box-like delicacy.”

“For the making of this song, I was heavily inspired by Cocteau Twins dreamy track “Cherry-coloured Funk” on their renowned 1990 “Heaven or Las Vegas” record. I fell in love with the steady, reverberating beat of the drums that began right away, and I felt it created a euphoric feeling of anticipation the whole way through. I wanted this song to evoke the same feeling while painting a dreamscape.”
